It did not.

The company's core technology centered on a miniaturized surgical robot small enough to fit through a single 1.5-centimeter incision. Two robotic arms, each roughly the diameter of a pencil, would deploy inside the abdominal cavity while surgeons controlled them from a console using virtual reality headsets. Vicarious framed this as a leap beyond Intuitive's da Vinci system, which requires multiple ports and larger incisions. CMR Surgical, a UK-based competitor also pursuing miniaturized robotics, raised $600 million and is still pre-revenue in the U.S. market despite launching in Europe in 2019. Medtronic's Hugo system, backed by a $31 billion parent company, took four years post-launch to reach 150 installations.
