Xinhua News Agency

About

Xinhua News Agency is China's state-run national news service, operating a global network of bureaus and distributing text, photo, video, and data content in multiple languages. It has been experimenting with synthetic presenters since 2018 and, on November 5, 2026, unveiled Xinyu and Xinyan, a pair of life-size bionic humanoid news anchors built in partnership with UBTECH Robotics. Xinhua positions itself as a media-sector adopter of embodied AI rather than a robotics manufacturer, billing the robots as the first physical humanoids built specifically for news-reading scenarios.
